In the Mind of A Gamer Girl

Animal Crossing…what have you done to my life?

Yes, my dear readers, I have dashed my way onto the Animal Crossing bandwagon, albeit later than most. I’m not *super* addicted to it, as I’m not a fan of grinding in games, but it has been the only game I’ve consistently played for a few weeks now. My husband and I have recently done another semi cross-country move, and this game was simple and fun enough to help me not stress.

Single-Player Killzone 3 demo dropping in Feb.

Sony Computer Entertainment has already announced an open multiplayer beta for Killzone 3 from February 2 – 14, but is the wait from the 14th to the 22nd, when it debuts, too long to wait? Well Sony has also thought of that, and are dropping a single-player demo February 15th for North American fans and February 16th in Europe. The sneak peak doesn’t stop there, if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you will get the demo a week earlier.

The demo will feature a single level, “Icy Incursion”, which sees players return to the conflict between the human Interplanetary Strategic Alliance and the Nazi-like Helgast. As the title implies, the level will feature a wintry landscape on the planet Helgan which players must negotiate with the help of jetpacks. Melee combat will also play a major role in the level.

It will also be released in both 2D and 3D versions, with both of those being PlayStation Move compatible.

Killzone 3 will be available in two versions, a standard $60 release and a $130 limited-edition package with a replica mask and helmet of the series’ signature Helghast armies. While the headgear is the centerpiece of the extra goodies, the collector’s edition will also include a 6.5-inch articulated Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure, an art book, and a voucher to download multiplayer maps, the game’s soundtrack, and more.

Splinter Cell Trilogy To Be Released on PS3

Sony continues with the recent surge of three-pack remastered games by adding the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell games. The Tomb Raider trilogy pack is rumored to be released March 22, 2011 (official release announcement is sometime 2011) and the Sly Cooper three-packs dropped November 9, 2010.

The trio will include the original Splinter Cell, which introduced the series’ gravelly voiced hero, international operative Sam Fisher, in 2002. The critically acclaimed game also was the first to showcase the series’ signature stealth-action mechanics, and it featured Fisher going after Chinese and Russian extremists.

Also included in the trilogy will be the 2004 sequel, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. That game saw Fisher take on a biological threat to the entire world, and it featured team-oriented multiplayer modes. Finally, the three-pack will feature the 2005 follow-up, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, which sported a dynamic soundtrack by electronic musician Amon Tobin and a harder M-for-Mature rating.

The Splinter Cell three-pack will be released on the PS3 on March 22, 2011.
